Abstract
The purpose of this article is to reconstruct the fundamental lines of thought of two Spanish philosophers of the twentieth century, Ortega y Gasset and Zubiri, focusing on the idea of a radical historicity of the human being. In the works of both authors it is possible to appreciate a reaction to the crisis of the realistic and idealistic pathways of the history of philosophy, through which they propose an anthropological, social and historical framework that seeks a more authentic, primordial and true understanding of the human condition.

Keywords: Historical Reason; vital reason; Philosophical anthropology; Philosophy of history; Spanish philosophy.
